Biography

Initially with St John's boys Guild in Stevenson, he was signed for the club from Ardeer Rec, an amateur side on May 12, 1937. He made his debut in a 1-1 draw at home against QPR on September 4th 1937. He played in the third round FA Cup tie at Leeds in 1939, and scored his only goal for the club in a 5-2 win at home against Bristol Rovers in March 1939. Peter featured in a 10-0 win against Northampton Town on the eve of the declaration of war, a result that was then expunged from the records. 


He was sadly killed in action in the Netherlands on January 21st 1945 as the Allied Forces marched into Germany. The club held a benefit match for his widow and daughter Mary (who passed away in April 2000) in May 1946 against Southampton.
